greetings from california. we made it to the coast… it’s manifest destiny.
it’s been almost two weeks since our farm tour ended and we’re back to the routine of “regular” touring which means no bounty of local food put on the table by those that made them and the community members they serve. means divey bars [...]
in attempt to deepen our commitment to local farm/food concerns, we are working in conjunction with farmers from virginia to central pennsylvania to produce a series of events celebrating and publicizing community supported agriculture (CSAs), farm markets and other local, sustainable initiatives.

en route to DC from richmond, we took a sizable but manageable detour to washington, VA to visit sunnyside farms and orchard.
in all this harvest tour planning and emailing and calling, it was refreshing to finally get ourselves on site, meet some people and check some spots out. we arrived shortly after lunch time. [...]
so we finally put the word out to farmers and buy fresh, buy local chapters in PA and the areas surrounding about a week ago. response has been good. we’re kinda forging new territory… for us, at least. no booking agent, no pre-existing relationships with clubs… just emails with farm folk.
realizing that we here at hoots and hellmouth are the last word in letting ideas die on the vine, i figured we’d do well to put the word out there and see what kind of interest we could find.

Over bubble tea, we were reminicing about our performance at charlestown farm 2 years ago. every thing we try to do, we try to do with localism in mind. and food is at the center of all local issues. it’s the lynchpin of the local community. this led to the idea for the harvest tour.
